Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Q4 2024 I'm told. No idea on price, better be cheap as EV prices are collapsing new and used.

I have a ID-Buzz GTX on order, cherry red and silver combo colour option, expected delivery end Q1 2025. The order is subject to price (was told to expect $90K+ !!!) as to me VW needs to be aware that EV prices are in freefall in Aus now.

The alternative for me is a Cupra Born. I like the look and 1 year old demos with less than 5000km are less then $50K now (RRP new $66K) and still 100% eligible for the FBT tax waiver. It is just an ID3 in a prettier skin.

The price of the ID.4 and ID.5 in NZ has changed from NZ$79,990 to NZ$59,990 recently. It's still showing as a "Special price" rather than the "New" price, but I hope that these come out in AU closer to $60k than $80k!

The ID.Buzz was always going to be a higher priced car given the cost of the Transporters in AU.
ID.Buzz Cargo has been announced at AU$79,990 for the SWB (before onroads)
        ID.Buzz Pro SWB at $87,990
        ID.Buzz Pro LWB $91,290
        ID.Buzz GTX LWB $109,990
        See: https://www.drive.com.au/news/2025-v...ice-and-specs/

I personally hope that they'll bring the ID.7 Tourer to Aus

Yep, my dealer advised me late yesterday afternoon the ID.Buzz GTX LWB will be $109,990 + onroads. This makes it ineligible for the FBT waiver on a lease so, I already notified them of the cancellation of my order. Its not worth that much IMO

Yeah - that is a bummer.
I would say that the GTX in the Buzz is pointless and you should just get the Pro LWB that does fit within the FBT waiver. But without seeing the specs, it could be a case like in the UK where the GTX models often include most of the options already, so often ends up about the same price as a Pro with all the options.

Yup, all the options are standard (including the Panoramic sunroof and HUD) on the GTX plus it has a few GTX only colours and some GTX only trim. Addding those options to the Pro will undoubtedly add $10K-$15K to the Pro price.

As a bonus you get AWD and 0-100 in 6s, which was the main attraction to me

On the ID3/4/5 side, I think they all look too "Chinese" and not European at all. Hence my preference for a Cupra Born, which looks (and drives) like a proper euro hatch.

Did you ask the dealer about the ID.4/5 prices?

Any 0-100 km/h times? Last time I checked, they were still slow.

There was a Cupra Born that kept trying to go me the other day in my (stage 2) Arteon. I decided to put him in his place at the next set of lights and was ahead by ~2x car lengths within a block, before hitting the speed limit and having to slow down for my turn. It was disappointingly slow for an electric car.
