Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

the GTI in Qld (Esk) is not a GTI.
    Its a bitsa.
It has a fuel injected engine from a passat (JN) but running 4 motorcycle carbies.
    5 speed close ratio (FM)
Best body I have seen since I last had one.
    NO Rust.
    Lots of new/different panels.
Colour include white, black, duck egg blue and martini olive.
Well worth the buy it now price.

Well spotted!! Man, it's certainly gone to the pack since I last saw it, though. It was actually my brother that used to own it and he had the 2E fitted by Andrew Robinson.

Before the 2E, it had a 9A 16v, but this never ran, as the motor was an imported dud with no compression. This was pulled out and fitted to Andrew's competition car if memory serves me well.

The Mk1 left Tassie with a guy called Cameron Krt, but I think he had a lot of trouble with it - I lost track of it after that... Until now anyway!

In other news, that other Mk1 is certainly not a GTI. I'm sick of chumps trying to flog off their Mk1s as GTIs and rip people off!!
