Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Engine damaged Bora v6 4Mo on ebay

what do we all REALLY think the engine damage is? water-lock? scored cylinders?

or is it truly a bargain?

if you could get it cheap enough I recon you could build a turbo mosnter for a total cost of about 25k

I reckon $5K is a good price if thats what it goes for. But wouldn't you really need to know what the engine damage really is before buying it anyway?

If the cylinders are buggered, how easy is it to bore them? I am sure a 2.8L bored and stroked and then with some sort of forced induction would be great?

the car has been water damaged and listed as a repairable writeoff. Who knows what the extent of the water damage is. The interior looks like it has been wet.
Id be very careful buying something like that.

tim is right. no one knows the condition of the gearbox/4wd, if the clutch has been changed, suspension and so on. worth checking before bidding

This sold for $5,500 fellas. If i had a cool $30K lying around it would have been fun to buy it and throw some cash at it and see what happened

If you had that... then import Vert1's supercharged bora as "non registerable" spareparts vehicle then transfer the good bits to your Bora and track the other!
