Are you in the Car Sales game Sharkie?
Just wondering what you base mid $30ks trade in price on a rare 14000km 2008 car. Redbook does not take into account that this is 1 of only 6 of this colour scheme in Australia.
If he gets what he's asking for it...then good on him. At the moment...VW dealerships who can get hold of any brand new R32s, will only sell them at rrp. No discounts. Period.

If I had that sort of money, I'd be paying it for that car. Sure I'd try to haggle though, that's just my nature. That colour is just too hot to miss!!

Someone will pay the $53+k for this one.
Dealers don't abide by Redbook since it is only a guide. I have 2 DP friends and have had lenghty discussion about trade in the past, with me trying to understand why trade is almost always less than Redbook.
Only a VW dealer will serously entertain taking on a VW product to onsell. All the others will "phone a friend" and try to get a price from another used car yard that they then pass on to the person trading the car in less a "fee".
Extras simply do no count for much, so if you added $10K in options, you'd be lucky to get $2K extra upon trade in for them.
Equally unless its a VW dealer that red simply will not matter. No $$$$ extra for it come trade time.
Redbook says mid $30K, he probably got offered around that upon trade ......
THIS is the reason its on Carsales people, he's trying to get extra $$$$ above trade ..... no point in getting sentimental about it.
FJ Steve, why don't you ring around and get a few trade prices on your car. See what you get offered. You will be shocked
BTW I was at 1 DP on Friday when he offered $27K on a 2 year old BMW that cost $61K new ...... sports pack, leather, low kms ..... simply did not count ....
EDIT ... and the VW 2 dealers on Brisbane Nth side, both have new R32s in stock and both are on offer drive away for less than RRP ....

You make it sound like it's a crime. Someone call the waaaaaaaahmbulance.
And...you may care to go and burst this guy's bubble, with your "a friend of a friend of mine reckons that...." theory.
LOL ... like I said, no point in being sentimental ... or sarcastic ....
If he sells it at that price, yes, good on him, ... but I won't be holding my breath ....
Bottom line .... R32's have terrible resale (much worse than GTI's) and just because you don't like it, no point in shooting the messenger. Live with that fact and just enjoy your car.

Sharkie...I am not being sentimental. Or sarcastic.
R32 resale valuation when compared to a GTI is 1% less when compared to rrp for a 12 month old vehicle. (Using sources freely available on the internet)
I couldn't give a fat rat's clacker what he sold it for.....so, to imply that I don't like what I read, is a huge mistake on your part. You obviously see my posts as antagonistic, and I can assure you that is not the case. I am only trying to put forward logical factual based points.
