Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. • Vehicles [ACT- Manheims] My old Tig :(

Here is my Tig which was written off due to hail storm. It served me well for the 4.5 years I owned it.

Damaged 2011 Volkswagen Tiguan 125TSI S/Wagon 4D Wagon For Auction in National Online, National – Manheim Salvage Auctions

    Info for you watercooled folks:
    APR Stage 1
Heavy Duty Clutch (Stage 2? definitely felt the heavier pedal)
Always serviced at reputable local independent specialist (CVWCT)
    Kenwood Headunit (Android Auto, etc)
    Tow bar
Bonus (if still there) old 16" alloys (no tread and were under the house for a while)

Hail Damage: Most panels with small dings. Small paint damage above drivers door and cracked drivers b pillar trim.
They were going to repair it, then COVID19 hit. The total loss team called me one afternoon and asked where to deposit the payout cheque and when to pick up the car.

Could be a good deal for someone - wife has the family hauler now after losing her Skoda to the hail - I have the R

Disclaimer: I already have my payout and not related to this auction at all - just advising of things that could help someone on the forum who may be interested. I do not know of any change to the vehicle since it left my possession.

Has it had the timing chan tensioner replaced/upgraded? Any details on last water pump change and brakes?

To be honest with 170,000km on it and hail damage it’s probably not worth fixing and just drive it as-is.

Brakes probably done last service, or the one before, they were not on the 'must do next service list' from my mechanic.
Timing chain tensioner replaced as it was one that could fail. Water pump was done at the right interval - I got the car at 60k and put on 110k over the 4 years. Tyres from memory probably another 20k or so.
Also done was the intake manifold, more for long life ... as initially the daughter was interested in getting the car for free in a few years when she got her license. She is still a few years off from her Ps and is liking the idea of an auto more than a manual ... that is why also got the kenwood unit and reverse cam. pity was too hard to remove before they towed it.
only issues that irked me was the heavy clutch and a little clutch rattle at idle ... also reckon need the wastegate clip as there was a rattle there at times ...
if someone got it cheap they could just live with the dents and drive it to the ground ... I reckon easy lots of kms left in the engine. A little part of me still sad that they came and towed it away ...

Hopefully you got a reasonable payout. There’s likely quite a few cars coming up at auction from the same hailstorm.

Sounds like you looked after it so a bit if a shame really.
