Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW MK1 Golf Coilovers wanted

    Hi,

Does anyone have any Coilovers they are willing to sell cheaply? The cheapest i can find is JOM however its difficult to get them sent to Australia. I thought i would ask here before ordering a set online from overseas.

    Kind regards,
    Pineapple.
    Located Sydney, north.

Cheap coilovers are nasty on a MK1. The Golf is too light to make the coilovers work hard so the ride is really uncomfortable.

Either save your money and get a good set or have a look at my MK2 post (see link in my signature and then go to the bottom of page 19) to see how I got the MK2 to handle well AND ride comfortably. Didn't cost much either.

    Cheers

    Paul

As said above. At the start the JOM are actually decent, within a month or so of them setting in, they become soooo uncomfortable.

Koni shocks with springs, or get some ST, they are pretty good bang for buck.

Anyway, JOMs are easy to get sent down, look at vwheritage, they offer free shipping.
