Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW WTB: Pair of Outside front door handles MK3 2 litre

As it states, looking for a pair of working outside front door handles for my 2.0 MK3 golf (4 door).

the thread that hold the handle to the door is stripped in one & the back of the lock barrel is broken on the other. (Not just the usual broken hook/blade thingo on the back unfortunately.)

What ya got & what are they worth. Keys not need as I'm pretty sure I can change the lock barrels over.

    Cheers
    Brendan

What bit is broken on the lock? Are you able to post a photo?

there is a small loop that is broken off the back of the barrel, & the spring loaded piece between the barrel & the connector/hook is missing. This was broken prior to me owning the car so not sure if the missing spring loaded bit is in the bottom of the door or not. I have replacement hook that I bought prior to pulling the handle off.

There is also a small tab broken off the actual handle, which I think locates the spring loaded part.
