Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • SA WTB: Intake piping for TFSI

    Hi All,
Trying to get my hands on an aftermarket intake pipe with MAF bung etc so that I can create an intake much like the Forge Wintake but with my BMC CDA. Is there any chance someone would have such piping (don't need the air filter obviously :p) they've be willing to part with? Don't really see the point in purchasing a whole new intake just for the pipe if I can avoid it! Happy to pay postage if interstate as long as it's within my budget.

Otherwise, fabricate one by an exhaust shop you reckon??

This is the sort of setup I'm wanting but possibly without the heatshield material...

Tom - just get an exhaust shop to fabricate you a pipe out of stainless steel or alloy. You will need one of these though for the MAF.

Thanks for this link - didn't know you could get these... The thing is though, I reckon it'd be a couple o' hundred to get a custom fabricated pipe plus the $120 (plus postage) or so for the MAF housing. For that sort of money I could almost buy one of the cheaper intakes on the market, on sell the filter and keep the piping. Or better still, buy one second hand, ditch the filter and use the piping! Still, worth an email to my exhaust guy to see what he thinks...

You can cut the pipe off to suit your BMC airbox.
