Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I've been thinking about selling my Genuine Ross Tech VCDS cable - how much were you looking at spending? I brought it over with me from the UK when my entire family owned VAG cars, now I've only got the one AND live in Rural NSW it's really not worth having it anymore.

Erm I have the VCDS HEX-USB + CAN one? It's 9 months old, bought from Ilexa in the UK (they're the biggest supplier of diagnostic kits there) I have the invoice still so I'm sure Ross Tech would offer support etc if needed. It's the only model I've seen on the Ross Tech site that is compatible with every modern VAG car? I think there's a few people interested now so I guess it's best offer as I don't know how much it's worth in Australia anyway haha.

I have a vagcom imitation I bought from deal extreme. It doesn't go beyond "display" mode (ie: you can't change stuff) on my Octavia because it has a MED17 ECU. From what I can gather, it works on older VWs.

Cost me $40. Willing to sell for $20

The generic cables are passable on a Mk3, they can read and clear codes with the older Ross Tech software, although as it's unregistered it has to be done module by module. But yes, it reads errors OK.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.
