Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Wheels 17 x 7.5' for Polo GTI - Cheap

These are cheap and they suit the Polo with 5 x 100 PCD and 35 ET.

Won't clear the calipers I bet, I have a set of 15x6.5 ROH's from a celica and even with an ET of 38, they don't clear the fronts.

5mm spacers will almost certainly be in order to make these fit on the fronts...

Think the width and offset may be an issue. Can't imagine that they would look very good / hold the finish for that price...

Offset and width are irrelevant for caliper clearance. The distance between the hub face and the back of the spoke design is what you need to worry about.

To put it in perspective, a 17x7.5 wheel with say, 50 offset, can potentially have the same amount of caliper clearance as an identically sized wheel with an offset of 12. if the spoke design and the hub face are the same width apart on both wheels then they will clear or foul the brakes in exactly the same way as each other.

I just realised I put this in the wrong section of the forum. Can someone please move this to the 'Whats on Ebay' section.
