Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • SOLD Foliatec high quality brake caliper paint kit (gloss red)

Purchased 2x of these Foliatec brake caliper paint kits but have only used one of them. Have decided to use a blue colour on my other car so this gloss red kit is for sale.

    - high quality German made product
    - includes can of brake cleaner, gloss red paint and hardener which you mix in to the red paint.

Once dry, the paint is super glossy and looks great.

    $65 incl postage

Is this stuff a lot better than the rattle can paint? In terms of longevity?

I've done a couple of sets with hi temp caliper paint but the gloss finish only seems to last a short time...

I have had similar experiences with brake caliper specific paint in a spray can - paint stayed very soft so it marked easily and the glossyness only lasted a few months before they started to dull...this was the main reason why i bought this kit as they are pretty well regarded as a DIY brake caliper painting solution.

I painted the brakes on my GTI with one of these Foliatec kits about 6 months before i sold it, and in my fussy eyes the brakes looked just as good when i sold the car as when i first painted them. You actually paint this on with a brush so you dont need to mask the car up to prevent overspray.

Sounds good. Even though it's a bit more expensive if it keeps the gloss look long-term it's definitely worth the extra.
