Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • NSW FS: 312mm OEM brake setup for Mk4/8L A3/New Beetle

    Hi guys.

I have the 312mm OEM brake upgrade kit for the Mk4 chassis. List of parts is as follows:
    • Powdercoated calipers
    • Caliper rebuild kit (seals only, pistons are still in good condition)
    • Powdercoated carriers
    • New hardware/clips/boots/valves/caps etc
    • New brake hoses
    • New Mintex pads (low dust)
    • New ABS sensors
    • Used 312mm discs (machined a few months ago)
    • Bendix DOT4 brake fluid

The calipers need to have the piston and seals installed but this is not difficult, just work in a dustless environment. Everything is pretty much new and refurbed except for the discs, but they are still above the minimum thickness and have been machined recently so are ready to go. Pictures show rust but this is just surface of course.

Good upgrade for those running standard 288mm brakes. Those running smaller brakes on their Mk4 (280mm or 256mm) will require a different hub setup. I will have the required front hub setup for sale soon, so we can work out a deal if you're running 256mm/280mm brakes and want to do this upgrade. This is just a disclaimer, so please do research to see if these will fit your car.

    $400 ono.
