  • SA Mk6 GTI - Stock springs and downpipe

Update: springs sold. Downpipe still available, useful for someone returning to stock or trying Lucas R's GTI mod as below/per his build thread.

downpipe $40 or a few coffees at a VWW meet

I have the stock springs and downpipe off my Mk6 GTI (which was sold last year without returning entirely to stock) taking up space in the garage.

Both for sale for $50 or best offer.

The springs could be sent at buyer's expense interstate (approx $25) the downpipe would likely be too expensive (but can price up if someone is keen). Otherwise for local pick-up I can bring them out to a VWW coffee or drive meet if suitable.

Both were on the car for 15,000km or so before I modified.

Picture of springs (not the best but pretty sure the mrs didn't want them on the carpet)

Sorry yes both parts are stock GTI components.

Assume the springs might suit a non-GTI mk6 looking for a small drop, or for a GTI owner looking to return to stock who doesn't have their original parts anymore.

        Buy it as a spare.

Then take your existing stock down pipe off and knock out the top catalytic converter. This is the most restrictive part of your entire system. Only takes 5 mins to bang it out once you have the down pipe off the car. See pics: http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/...ml#post1033670

Thanks Lucas, very good idea and your build thread is definitely worth a read for this and other ideas. This option is certainly a lot cheaper than a new dump for $700+ or waiting for a second hand one to rock up.. and given the cost can always be swapped out later on.

Well maybe knock the cat out of the "spare" dump pipe and stick it on your new GTI... no cost mod

Mk7 GTI uses a different dump pipe (different shape, different side of the engine bay and uses a v-band connection to the turbo) so this will only be any good for other 2.0TSI (Mk6) owners.

Wow so even though Mk6 and Mk7 have EA888 engine they are totally different??

Will have to have a good look under the bonnet when you get your car Dutch77.

Very different engine. It's the 3rd gen of the EA888.

Tigger73: I don't need to modify my dump pipe, I'm staying stock remember.

But thanks Lucas/Brendan, yes only an applicable mob for a mk6 car.

I would hazard a guess as to no, but you'd need to research it. $40.
