NSW Genuine VW Towbar kit for Mk5/Mk6 Golf GTI

Not sure if this is the place to advertise a towbar kit, but thought id throw it on here before trying ebay etc.

We have just bought a 2nd hand Mk6 GTI and it is fitted with a genuine VW towbar kit. We have no need for a towbar, so im going to remove it and sell it. If anyone on here is interested, then i am happy to work out a deal for the towbar, wiring and also the GTI rear diffuser which is already cut out to suit the towbar.

I am also happy to work out some sort of a swap for your stock rear diffuser (has to be a Mk6 GTI diffuser in good cond) and your stock crash beam - and in return i will discount the price of the towbar for you. The reason i ask for the crash beam is because the towbar bolts into that location, meaning you must remove the crash beam in order to fit the towbar.

These genuine VW towbars retail at $1048.00 plus fitting. That was the price in 2011 anyway when the car was bought new.

Happy to sell it for $700 including my pre cut-out diffuser.

Or if you are willing to swap your stock crash beam and stock rear diffuser we can look at $550

As far as im am aware, this towbar kit will also suit the Mk5 shape, but i need to confirm once i get the part number off it.

I will need to confirm with VW (which i will try to do), but all MK6 Golf's share the same rear bumper (only the bottom diffuser section in black plastic varies on the GTI) so i do believe that there is only 1x type of towbar for the Mk6 hatch. In this case, yes it should be able to be used on your car. The only thing you will need it to have your rear diffuser cut out as shown in my 1st picture. I will try and get the part number off the towbar and confirm fitment.

Yes - due to the weight and bulk size i would prefer a local sale, but shipping can always be arranged if needed. Not sure what it would cost though.

According to Best Bars New Zealand, who make the towbars for VW Australia, the same towbar is used for all Golf Mk6 versions - regardless of whether its a 90TSI, 118TSI or GTI.

Hey Lucas, the bumpers on the TSI's and GTI's are different. Diffusers are not interchangable. Have a look at the section where the number plate fits, the design is different and so is the position of the reflectors, which are closer together on the TSI's.
