Group Buy / EOI new generation DNS head units (RNS-510 alternative)
Sent a PM about joining the Group Buy. I assume the radio will work in the US (though have to add US maps). Any estimate on when the group buy will close and units be shipped?
Sandy, still looking forward to the unit when all the issues are ironed out.
Would there be, with any luck those who have iPhones, have the ability to have the new Apple Carplay software installed?
I know its a long shot, but wouldn't that be fantastic???
Unfortunately I don't think that would be possible - they already have their own mirror link module developed (even if it is just one-way control at the moment).
I did, and it seemed to fix the stutter issue but not the slow change of songs issue. It also introduced a couple of navigation audio bugs - as I said it was experimental firmware so they've still got to improve it.
On another note, I have been doing testing with Sygic and the stutter and slow song change issues do not exist with it. The only problem is I'm not able to get the latest Sygic (12 or 13) without paying outrageous prices to get the maps (think ~$100 per map licence on WinCE at wholesale level when Sygic 13 Australian maps cost under $40 to buy on iPhone / Play Store... go figure). While we can skirt around the whole issue of navigation / SD conflict by using Sygic, if I made the switch it would only be Sygic Drive 10, which in my mind is equivalent to using iGo 8 when you know iGo Primo 2.0 is available...
I'm still debating the options but hopefully the navigation / SD issue will be fixed by AS soon enough that I won't have to consider using Sygic Drive.
I have received the small batch units today. I will sort through them and get them shipped out Saturday morning.

I used Sygic Drive (v10) on my Caska unit in my old Astra. It was fine, but the maps were fairly outdated, and there was no real way of getting updated maps/software for WinCE for a reasonable price. I swapped over the iGoPrimo pretty quickly. I did feel that Sygic had a slightly better routing engine (it seemed a bit smoother?), but you can't beat iGo for its customization and always updated maps. Hopefully AS can sort out the iGo issues.
Send me a PM when you're free to organise the unit swap, sounds like it'll be the weekend which is fine.

Sygic Drive is a last resort for me, but yes you are probably talking about getting maps yourself out on the forums. I am able to buy them at a very reasonable price so there would be up to date maps, it's just a matter of me preferring to stick with Primo, and I think most customers here would agree with me. There are pros and cons for both, but overall Primo is the one that stands out.
I will indeed be shipping the replacement units on Saturday. I will send a PM out to all those involved, but basically I would need a tracking number for the return unit or $200 deposit (refunded on receiving the return unit) by Saturday.

Sandy, Any chance of an update? This has been going on for months.
I realise much of the delay is out of your control, but it would be good to know the current status, what the outstanding issues are, and a expected/estimated time till delivery. It is for the wife's car, and she is beginning to make my life hell.

+1
I had no issues at the start but now EVERY drive I have to do a soft restart since 2 months ago. Camera still not working, and GPS search very very laggy. Also buttons no longer light up

Did you update the firmware? Haven't had any issues since the December firmware. Are you still using a preproduction unit? Get in contact with Sandy about swapping it for a production unit. My production unit works brilliantly.
