  • BUSINESS LED Puddle Light Kits - Group Buy

There is a group buy for these LED puddle lights over at vortex (hope i can link another vw site), which I am shamelessly plugging as I have ordered a set for my Scirocco, and it seems only needs another couple of people to drop the price by another $5. Postage to AUS is about $20 on top of the final price. Ends in a couple of days if anyone is interested.

    I'll give this a bump.

The group buy was extended until the end of the month.

Currently at $54.99, another 4 orders will be $49.99.

Mine are already in the post.

Hey Pomme, for the Scirocco are these replacing the standard bulbs in the door mirrors?

Can someone confirm that these will work with a MKV Golf R32?

          Thanks!

They replace the reflectors at the bottom of the door with a reflector/light. Nothing to do with the mirrors. Needs some DIY work, but looks very easy in the video. Not sure how they compare to brimway's link. I think i prefer the white reflector on the USP ones. No idea on quality. Buyer beware.

Though if you did look at the other ones, its probably this version:

Bold-Sport.com :: Door Warning Lights Housing - Pair

As I'm fairly sure there is no light to begin with in the Scirocco (or more other vw cars), so you'd have to retro fit the wires + vagcom. The first one looks like just replacement bulb maybe? So the new link is 29.99 (housing) + 24.99 (led bulbs).

You're right pomme, my bad. You can buy the Bold Sport ones with the std wedge bulb for USD30, but the LEDs look so much better. I went with Bold Sport with LEDs and can vouch for the quality.

I'd love a set of these in the Cab, but hate removing door trims. Funnily enough every other piece of trim I barely think about... but door trims... really REALLY hate them.

I'll have to think about this over the next couple of days and see where I land.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

I don't really know what other cars it works for, just knew it was at least for the Scirocco so I got one. The guy also posted in the Mk5 R32 forum over at vortex, so I'd assume the mk5 is compatible, if you want confirmation you can email him directly phil@uspmotorsports.com. I have dealt with him before and he was very helpful. But I have nothing to do with this group buy except as a participant.

Would you mind linking me the thread on VWVortex?

If you read the thread on Vortex it lists the models these lights are compatible with - VW Golf, Rabbit and Jetta MK5, MK6 and Scirocco, EOS, Tiguan, Passat B6 and B7. I believe it is both Mk5 and 6 Golf - if you have the little red reflectors in the doors then it should work OK.

I have installed the Bold-Sport ones in my 2011 Tiguan. The main difference I can see is the Bold-sport are red/white and the USP Motorsport units are white only.

Here's a pic of the bold-sport installed on my car. I went with the standard bulb and replaced with simple LED bulbs (not the long fancy LED units). While I had the door trims off I upgraded all my electric window/mirror switches while I was at it.

In fact I sent a step further and installed a switch and included a set of laser lights for the front doors only.

Switch installed in rear of door pocket:

                        Safety light:

                        Switchable laser light:

Here's the link to the DIY if anyone is interested: http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/...tml#post933532

...sorry to hijack the thread but definitely recommend installing the safety light - gives a nice finish.

These must be included in some overseas models as all that is required to do is enable an option for the door warning lights using VCDS once these are installed.

                          Robbie:

The link in the first post is for Scirocco. There are multiple thread running over there on different forums....

VWVortex.com - USP Motorsports | RFB Lighting plug-n-play Hi Intensity LED Puddle Light Conversion Kits - Group Buy!!!!!!

This is the post in the mkV R32. Reading the thread it would seem that it will work with the mkV r32, but NOT the mkIV r32.

Tig - That VW projector badge looks pretty awesome, and very tempting.. maybe if they had an R logo projector. But I have a feeling I will get over that initial wow factor and not use it after a couple of weeks. So I should steer clear.

Which is why I installed the switch... only turn them on for a bit of fun when I'm in the mood (or when the kids get to it). Normally I run the safety lights 90% of the time.
