given that, after reading on tdiclub.com and making the decision to do not-so-frequent oil changes, i think a magnetic sump plug might be a good idea.

          how do i purchase, whiteVR6?

We have both types the 17mm head and the 19mm head although for every 100 we sell of the 19mm head we sell 1 of the 17mm head

Most VWs use the 19mm head, the only ones that use the 17mm head are T4 2.5 and some 1.8/v6 passat b5/a4 (there are probably more I dont know about though)

I'm confused. I have the ECS magnetic sump plug which looks exactly the same as the ones in your picture (replacing the 19 mm original), but the head size is 14 mm. However, the ECS magnetic gearbox plug has a 19 mm head, and is not recessed like the original.

To fit a MK4 GTi? Does it fit on the gearbox?

                        The 19mm is replaced with a 14mm
                        The 17mm remains 17mm
The 17mm allen key is replaced with 17mm bolt head

No, but we sell magnetic gearbox plugs with gearbox oil
