Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hey Guys.

    This went pretty much nowhere.

    See below.

    People interested:

    Kanaage- 02JB/02S (P/N 10-309-181WK) WaveTrac

    golfvr6y- 02A (P/N 10-309-160WK) WaveTrac

Can still get these for you, but not for the prices I had listed.

Do they make one that suits your Caddy? (which I assume uses the same drivetrain as a 9N3 TDi - not that I'm at all tempted to get one )

Although i'm after one for my 16v 020, not the Caddy.

I'll just need to know your GB code.

Do you mean clutch type vs gear type?

Yeah guess so, there was a guy at winton with a integra, i dont know what LSD he has, but he said it was not good for normal driving

Got my clutch and flywheel here, going to have to pull the gearbox out, so might as well kill 2 birds with 1 stone lol

Clutch type diffs are like a semi lock diff. The tighter they are, the more like a lock diff they are. Gear/torque bias diffs work so that the loaded wheel is the one the more power is transmitted to.

I may be interested, but have no idea how much coin one of these would set me back.
I've got a 08 Polo GTi. I believe the gearbox code is JDB?
Any ideas on the ballpark figure a workshop would charge to fit one of these?

If I give someone my gearbox, do you know how many hours to open it up and put it in.
Can anyone install it, not me, as in a qualified place like Volkspower etc, or does it need to be a transmission specialist

Oh I think the gearbox is a HWY code?

They're around $800 to $900. If i can get a few on board i'll set the postage at $90.00.

These are ballpark figures, i'm really only expressing a potential offer at the moment, as I am in the market for an LSD myself. So why not hook a few more people up, right?

Installation is expensive as there is a lot of time involved. By the time the shop removes the box, fits the diff and installs the box again it could be as much as the price of the diff. I would assume a place like Volkspower can do it. If not i'm sure they could steering you in the right direction.

I'm also looking into Wavetrac LSDs too. I like the idea of them having pre-load.
