This is an aftermarket iPod input. I have successfully used it on an RCD-500 and RCD-510, since upgrading to my RNS-510 it didn't appear to work properly so I have removed it. Although originially designed only for iPod it will work from an iPhone as well, it just won't charge and you'll get that "this accessory is not designed for iPhone" error message on the phone.
The unit plugs into the quad lock in the original input position and you just need to earth a ground wire and the install is done. Cable then runs into the glove box/consol for the iPod. I have the owners manual.
Unit works as a CD changer through the normal HU. Track controls will work from the HU to skip tracks, etc but no song titles will be shown.
