Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

if the wheels are flat backed you might be able to get them redrilled, which brings me onto a question for the OP: are the wheels flat backed???
yeah just had a quick look on ecs, they do 20mm, but not in 114.3 at all?

The top item on that page is 5x114.3 - 5x100 adaptors. $199 for a pair. They can make them any thickness.

Two of the wheels are flat backed, two have scalloped backs. The 263s (9" wide) have scalloped backs and can't be redrilled. However you can swap centres to achieve different offsets.

What car have you got to put these on Dom? I assume a bagged passat? The only way it'd end badly is if you didn't win them

Are there any BBS RS floating around Australia?

                    yes on mine
and obviously that answers the question as to weather they make 5x100 - 5x114.3
                    the cost me about $500

but remember people to get larger than a 25-28mm spacer as otherwise the bolts will stick out on the spacer & you will have to get the back of your wheels cut away to fit them live and learn

and dont think because they have the cut aways that you wont, cause being that 5x100 is such a small size it still hits on the factory bbs cut outs!

and also a question for the seller:
due to no really close ups of the wheels, are they in perfect condition

any gutter rash, corosion, sunspots or paint fade?

                    cheers.

No they are not in mint condition, the centres are great, but the lips would need to be taken off and polished. Some have light kerb rash but this could be filed out easily. As I have said in the Qs and As if they were going on my car I would most definately strip and paint and polish them, I wouldn't put them on as they are.

Can anyone confirm this? even with a 15mm adapter and the 35 offset im thinking id have to pull the rear gaurds to cover the tyre and wheel... another 10mm+ might be too far?

                            i can hahahaha

im 99% shore the smallest adapter they can make safely is 20mm anyway

but its no big deal anyway with the bolts, its just a bit more work that you have to be prepared for / i did mine in about 3 hours myself

but do it, it would look awsome

Hey i'm just curious to know about how u guys go running wheels with spacers and adapters etc on your cars with regards to insurance? Are you just not covered and risk it or what? As my understanding is spacers aren't allowed unless the car came with them from the factory, and as for wobble bolts, they just aren't allowed...? This is for Victoria, but if I'm misinformed please let me know, as it would be nice to have a larger choice of wheels and offsets...

                              Cheers,

You are right. Unless they came fitted as standard equipment(eg; Porsche), spacers and adaptors are illegal. If you have an accident, and you are found to have them on, you are pretty much buggered if the insurance company, or the coroner finds them...Its the risk you run for good looks...

This should help...Covers each states ruling on the matter...
