Hi All,
Have purchased a one way ticket to EU and need to rid myself of a lot of things not needed at this point in my life. So I’ll be selling some things that have taken many years to fall into my lap ☹
I’ve done my research and think I have priced the items very reasonably. I will be constantly be adding more parts as I uncover them so keep an eye on this first page being updated.
Biggest prize up for sale is my 1983 MK1 GTi Campaign. SOLD
(My tears are falling on the key board as I write this)
When I purchased the GTi it was in pieces and boxes. After 2 years of slow progress it now starts and runs, and almost assembled. This is however still an ongoing project, and requires someone with attention to detail to complete the remainder.
Some of the small issues to tinker with are, indicators don’t work at times, horn isn’t working, foglights not wired, brakes need bleeding, some bushes might need changing, bonnet and sunroof need painting, needs basic service etc etc. I have been collecting a lot of missing parts, but there are still some small items required to finish this project.
I have had the rear resprayed at home in order to get it on the road asap, so will require a cut and polish of the entire vehicle to match the old / new.
Good stuff – it’s an awesome car. Genuine Campaign model with all the quirky bits that set it apart from all other MK1’s. There is no rust at all on this body (crazy right?) that's due to it always being garaged, and the fact that the later golfs had much better rust protection than the earlier ones. Interior is by far the cleanest I’ve ever seen and the engine is still the original with matching numbers. It is a 1.8 K-jet still and runs pretty well.
Sunroof still works well, however missing a piece or two. The Previous owner has also installed rear disk brakes which further add to the appeal. The GTi also has sport damper adjustable shocks. It will also come with a brand new set of side strips, brand new red grille surround for the dual lights, and brand new black side and boot stickers. Also included is the O.G 14” P slot wheels with caps to match!!
As of recent, I have installed a short ratio 02j box with cable shifter and custom hydraulic setup which works really well and makes for a fun drive (Muuuuuuuuch better than the rod shift and cable clutch).
The GTi will come with boxes of spares that I have, as I am getting rid of anything MK1 related.
As well as the original gearbox and all linkages.
