It looks in really good condition, however anybody looking at it will be figuring in the $5K+ needed to replace the DSG at some point in the not too distant future. And no matter how good the DSG may have been to you, it will break (expensively) at some point.
Personally I'd pay $14K for a manual GTI in good condition like that, but for a DSG I'd be looking at a lot less .... actually no, I'd not even be considering it at any price, just can't face the DSG hassles .... but that could just be me.

Are you specifically referring to the dsg in that model? From what I can tell the majority of DSG owners are getting over 200K out of the box, most say if serviced regularly it will outlast the car. There's a fleet of taxis in Brisbane using Passats with DSG, they put 800K + over the career of the car and doubt they'd be using them if they had to spend $40K on gearboxes over their lifetimes.
I honestly think the issue is the price is too close to what you can pick up a mark 6 for. Even though this is in great condition and low km's a lot of young buyers are going to spend 15-16 to get a mark 6 GTI instead.

You are correct mate. Mk6 gtis are getting cheaper and there are so many mk5 gtis on the market.
My GTI has 160k KMS, DSG and has had zero issues. As long as they are serviced they will keep going.

2005 MkV Golf GTI - couldn't resist
My friend's daughter went and looked at it. Not dissing the car as I haven't seen it but her feed back was the sagging hood lining was a turn off. Also worried about having to do the cam belt as even though it is low k's the car is nearly 9 years old.

2006 Polo GTI - Enhanced by some of Gav's magic - Absolutely loving it
Someone is going to get a very good car way too cheap, sure it's not perfect but it's always been specialist serviced by date not kms, always garaged, always waxed and kept clean. Most people see the small faults before looking at the good side of the ledger. Anyway that's selling a car privately so we will continue. People will pay what they will pay.

Stick with it. Its a **** market.
People will always find a problem with the price you choose. Don't be swayed.
