Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • QLD 2008 Golf V GT TDI Tornado Red DSG - one of a kind mods

    Hi everyone,

Some of you may know me and my car. In any event I am now selling it as I have upgraded to a Golf R.

Before I go any further I just want to say that this car is NOT affected by the VW dieselgate scandal. Dieselgate affected Golf VI TDIs.

    The basics:
    • bought in 2009 from new, one owner
    • Uprated 125kw TDI engine (pre-modded stock figure)
    • 105,550km
    • DSG
    • 17" stock alloys - unfortunately some gutter rash
    • Michelin PS3 rubbers - about 70% left
    • always serviced on time or earlier. Other than the first couple of services, has always been done by Jimmy @ Alba European. He knows the car well and can vouch for it
    • full height MFD
    • Multi Function Steering Wheel
    • rain sensing wipers
    • dual zone AC
    • colour coded side bumpers
    • rego until February 2016

    The mods:
    • colour coded fiberglass rear bumper imported from RDX Race Design in Germany
    • HID headlights with LED - custom modded projectors (proper cutoff) with Morimoto H1 HID kit, all from The Retrofit Source in the US
    • Valeo LED taillights with LEDs added to inners by buckets. Quad ring mod applied (I am the original modder - see this thread LED tails quad ring VCDS mod - VW GTI Forum / VW Rabbit Forum / VW R32 Forum / VW Golf Forum - Golfmkv.com)
    • Golf 6 climatronics swap
    • Golf 6 steering wheel swap
    • Audiosources DS series infotainment with satnav, SD, USB, DVD, aux inputs and line-level audio output - latest Golf 7 style exterior, OEM style interface, no loss of radio reception / integration etc - more info DS-611|VW Car DVD-Audiosources Electronic Technology (Shenzhen) Co.,Ltd
    • TPMS linked to satnav unit above
    • Whiteline Rear Sway Bar and Anti-Lift Kit
    • Sachs Performance Coilovers - adjustable height + dampers
    • Milltek turboback stainless steel 2.75" system with resonator
    • APR Carbonio air intake with K&N filter
    • EGR delete
    • Custom Code Stage 1+ ECU + DSG tune

Car pulls incredibly well and has what I consider to be tasteful and not extravagant mods

You'll be surprised that it's a diesel. I've not done a proper dyno run but I know it puts out more than a stock GTI. I test drove an R the other day and while it is quicker off the line, this little TDI will give the stock R a run for its money from a rolling start. The torque is amazing and thanks to the suspension mods it handles quite well for a FWD too.

This car is truly one of a kind and I know there is no other like it in Qld, and possibly Australia. With all that it does, it still sips fuel and on average reaches 750km per tank. I know I am moving on to an R, but I will still miss this TDI.

    Photos below.

Sold as a package - $16,990. Carsales link: 2008 Volkswagen Golf GT Sport V Auto MY09

Note: quad LED tails and front HID, pre-lowered (was not fitted with Sachs Performance coils at this stage)

DkN, that is a really nice car, and with one-of-a-kind mods. I am not in the market, but am interested in the MkVI interior upgrades, as I would like to do that to my Pirelli. Don't want to bog down this sales post (although am bumping it in the process), but would be interested in hearing about your experience.

Thanks buddy, feel free to drop me a PM. I'm not very active on the forums these days but obviously I'll be checking it more often while selling the car. Free bumps are always appreciated

Bump. price reduced to $16,990. Thought I'd also clarify that this car is not affected by the Dieselgate scandal.

Not in a big hurry to sell but would prefer to have it gone since I now have my new R.
