  • SOLD For Sale: Lucas_R's MY11.5 Golf R manual, 26,000km's, immaculate condition, 211.7kw

I have been entertaining the idea of moving on from my immaculate MY11.5 Golf R and getting something else. Wondering if there is any interest for this car on here?

Ordered in Dec 2010 and delivered in April 2011, this United Grey metallic coloured VW Golf R with manual gearbox has only travelled 26,000km's since new and has full service history. The car is only really driven on weekends and occasionally once or twice during the week. Car is kept locked up in my garage when not used.

Only used BP Ultimate 98 for fuel and the best oils (Liqui-Moly TopTec 4200) and genuine parts for servicing. The car averages about 9.2L/100km around town (and about 8.0L/100km on the open road/freeway) and does not consume any oil between services.

In fact, the reason i am selling the car is simply because i do not drive it enough to justify having it. I walk to work each day and the car sits locked up in my garage (with a car cover on it most of the time). It only really gets driven on weekends. I am looking to buy a cheaper car for around $20-25k.

Have spent about $12k on aftermarket parts on this car over the past 3.5 years - i may part the car out but that depends on any interest from this EOI and what i decide to do with the car. Happy to come to an agreement with a buyer on the car if they do not want some of the parts fitted (eg reduce the price and remove some of the parts etc).

You may think this car has been flogged due to the modifications, but it's quite the opposite. This car has had a MUCH easier life than 99% of Golf R's out there. Its always driven at very low load and RPM until the engine has warmed up, and even then, it rarely goes over 3,500rpm on a day-to-day basis. Sure, i put my foot down every now and then and enjoy the car, but i have alot of mechanical sympathy and don't like "flogging" my cars. It has also never been to a drag strip or racetrack. It has been on the dyno 4 times in total to check tuning changes and ensure the tune is safe for the engine and running well.

Car is kept immaculately clean inside and out at all times. The car rarely travels more than 200-300km without being washed and vacuumed. The car gets washed and polished with high quality products from Care Care Products, and im an ex-car detailer so the paint and interior is perfect.

Interior and external bodywork is faultless. You could eat off the engine bay. In fact, you could eat off the underside of this car - its immaculate.

Absolutely nothing wrong with this car, it has been faultless since day one and will be a great car for whoever buys it.

The car is registered until 8th April 2015 and isn't due for another service until June 2015.

You looking for cash only sale, or could be interested in swap + cash?

Im more looking for a DSG but i could do another manual if needed.

Thanks Damien - we are keeping the GTI for another few years so ill still be around on here. But i simply dont drive the R enough to justify keeping it right now - we have a bub on the way and doing some house renos of the next few months, so its time to let it go and get something a bit cheaper.

I would prefer a cash only sale, as the cars im looking at to replace the R are not common cars, and seeing im so fussy - i want a really well maintained car with good paint/body/interior and low km's.

Lucas, yours has to be one of the very best (cleanest, most carefully-chosen modifications, best cared-for) Rs I've seen online. I sincerely hope you can find a home for it with an enthusiast who appreciates it as much as you clearly have. GLWS!

I'm buying an S3 as a weekend toy and I'll be lucky to do 5,000km a year in it (now have a bog-stock Mk5 2.0 auto as a daily), but I have to have it because owning a special car is just something I need to do. Are you sure you're not the same? Will the wife's GTI be enough to scratch that itch, so to speak? What will you be looking at as a replacement? (Sorry for the thread hijack.)

Thanks Adam - i certainly have looked after the car like no one else. And believe me it will be sad to see it being driven off by someone else and off to a new home, but its the smart thing to do. After buying a replacement car for between $20-25k we will pay off the wife's GTI and then will owe no money on the cars - then we can smash the home load with all that extra cash for a few years.

Lucky you for getting a new S3, i really like them. Conrats!!

The truth is that we could easily "make do" with the one car, and if i wasnt a car enthusiast i would just buy a $4000 banger to get me from A to B....but of course a $4000 banger would make me want to kill myself. So thats why ive set myself a sensible budget for a replacement car that will allow me to still get something newish/modern/reliable/sporty/low kms that i can enjoy and tinker with, without spending a huge chunk of cash.

Yes you did predict correctly Matt, although the incoming bub is not really the reason for selling the car. In fact, ive been thinking for a good year or so now about selling it. Its just alot of money sitting there in the garage not being used - so the plan is to buy something for around $20-25k second hand (around 2007-2010 era and still lowish km's) that i wont be so fussy and OCD about. I still want a nice car that is enjoyable to drive and i can be proud of, but it doesn't need to be this expensive.

Just what you need for the new bubs is a stage 2+ Tig

Only kidding - mine is probably a little higher in km mainly due to all the country trips. Though I'd be interested what you're looking at getting in that price bracket. Possibly an Octy RS??

Yes i saw your thread advertising your car for sale, GLWS. I think i am actually going to try something non VAG (and non-european actually) as currently we have 2x cars that are very much the same in alot of ways and it would be nice to have something a bit different. Currently i am looking at several Jap made cars from around 2008-2011 which will fit in my budget.

Ive actually removed it from the spec list as i figured it would be something that wouldn't be wanted/appreciated by another person, so i will be fitting it to our GTI.

Every offer/expression of interest ive had so far is a low ball and wanting the car parted out to reduce the cost - so looks like i might be pulling it to pieces which would be a shame. Might even decide to keep it if that's all the interest i get.

Cheers Adam - and thanks for updating the thread to say "sold". I tried to edit the thread title but couldn't.

It felt very odd waking up this morning and knowing my car was gone - not a nice feeling.

I was never going to sell the car in Newcastle, as i couldn't stand to see it being driven around by someone else (call me crazy but i would regret selling it every time i saw it). So yes its going to a new home that's far away but to an owner who promises me that it will be well loved. The car still looked brand new so i hope it serves the new owner well for years to come.
