  • SA MY03 (2002) Bora 4motion.... TURBO

EOI – VW Bora 4motion Turbo. Not your ordinary Bora!

Firstly why am I potentially putting the bora up for sale? Well I’m at a cross roads. My career and priorities at the moment mean the car spends 98% of the year locked in a shed gathering dust. Although I enjoy driving it when I get the chance I am seldom home to do so.
This car has been my pride and joy since 2008. I bought it stock as a rock with 90 something thousand KM on it and since it has undergone some substantial modifications. The car is truly one of a kind. No expense has been spared and I believe this is reflected in my build thread.

As all the details of the build are in there I will not delve too deep however a summary can be:

    Bora 4motion
    160xxx km
    Running Garrett GT3076R making approx. 270AWKW @ 18psi
    C2 Motorsports Stage 3 Tune
    C2 Motorsports fuelling kit
ARP Head Studs and Rod Bolts
    C2 Head Spacer
    034 Motorsport Solid Engine Mounts
    Walbro 255LPH Additional Fuel Pump
    FMIC (well hidden)
    MOCAL 19 Row Oil Cooler
Spec Stage 3+ Clutch and single mass flywheel
PB Brakes 356x32mm 6 pot brakes
    PB Coilovers
Whiteline 3 point adjustable rear swaybar
    Greddy Spec B Boost Controller
Koya Tek GM 18x8.5 +30 Rims with KU36 Rubber

Honestly that’s just a handful of the modifications done to the car. A lot of custom work has been done to ensure that no cutting was done to any of the hard parts of the car when fitting things such as FMIC, Oil Cooler etc etc. Lots of time and money has been spent and a countless amount of hours, blood sweat and tears are invested in the car.

The C2 tune seems to have a hole in the map coming off hard throttle runs which can lead to a clutch in stall. It might just be a vacuum leak, it might not. I’ve learnt to live with it as its not a huge issue but it’s there (at least for now) none the less.

Now the million dollar question… what am I after for it. Well I am chasing approx 16k. I don’t know what the market price for something like this would be, but believe me the conversion cost is pretty high.

If you are interested at all, please read my build thread, lots of info there. I have no secrets to hide with the car, everything is in the build thread.

    Serious enquiries only via PM.

Saw this car on one of it's last outings and it's certainly one nicely turned out car (photos courtesy of AdamD).

...and one pinched from your build thread

Understand it's a hard decision to come to - hope to see the car go to a good home.

Thanks Adam! It's a hard decision to put it up for sale but it seems like a waste just to lock it in a shed. However that said if it doesn't sell, I'll just keep it!

Bump! As terrible as it sounds I've found a new toy I'm thinking of getting so I'm slightly more keen to move the Bora. I've revised the price to $16k. Again although I'm more keen to sell, i'm still equally keen to keep it! Decisions, decisions!

This is one very nice car mate. It's just unfortunate that this car is in such a specific market, e.g: people who like Bora's and are after one, as for 20/16k etc your looking at some nice Lancer Evo territory and cars of the like. Alot of 'random' people checking this ad don't understand the 'real' value of this car and think "****ing hell 20/16k for this, no way!" when it's actually worth that. Such a pitty. Love this car, if I had a spare 16k I would have snapped it up, yesterday!

Haha its all good mate! I know its a pretty tight and specific market thus why I'm not really expecting much genuine interest. In my eye's it's not really a pity as if no buyer comes along I'll just keep it, garage it and then later on track it. That said if it does sell to fill the void that the Bora would leave i'd upgrade from my Triumph Street Triple to a BMW S1000R

Haha nothing like the thrill of two wheels!

On a positive note, intake leak turned out to be a leaking BOV which was an easy fix and the associated rough running fouled the plugs so I've got a new set to throw in

Did that fix the tune issue by any chance?

Have followed this build since the beginning and is responsible for many lost hours spent day dreaming of doing the same!
                          Good luck with the sale!

Hopefully, not 100% sure though as I haven't driven the car since as I've been away with work.
