I picked up this Golf a few months ago needing lots of TLC, most of which it received by now. It was meant to do service as a runaround for my teenage kids but I now have an opportunity to get them into a new Trendline Polo (Thanks VW for the driveaway deals!) so EOI on the Golf.
If not sold or the VW Deal falls through, I’d be happy to keep the Golf for a while longer
The Golf comes with a RWC and some rego (more is negotiable) in QLD and almost every mechanical bit that fails on the MK4s have now been replaced.
The Good
1999 MK4 1.6 Manual GL
125000kms
All electrics work (including doors and windows)
In the last 2 months the following has been replaced with new parts:
About 12 months ago the following was replaced
A new Sony CD player has been fitted about 6 months ago
Windscreen was replaced in December 2012
The gearbox have been reconditioned about 1 year ago
4 New tyres have been fitted 6 months ago and have done about 2000km since then
It had a service last month that replaced the filters (air, oil and fuel)
The Bad
The tyres are noisy L
The paint is in average to poor condition with the clear coat peeling in a few areas.
The interior trim (door cards) still need some attention.
It will need rear brake pads in about 10000km
Aircon may need a regas
The Ugly
I’m pleased to say I have given the Golf a new lease on life and as such I’m chasing $3500 ONO for the car in a condition that is now totally serviceable. If cared for I believe it will go for another 100000km without any major dramas. I’m not a mechanic, only an enthusiast so don’t take that as a guarantee of any kind.
