Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • WA EOI: Green Lightning (1996 Golf VR6 Colour Concept)

I am relocating to Melbourne at the end of the month for a few years of study. Unfortunately, I can't take Greeny with me.

I'm only 50/50 on selling, so I'll put it out as EOI for now.

    Heres the deets:
1996 Golf VR6 Colour concept - "salsa green" colour with matching leather interior
    Manual transmission
    292,000km - majority highway kms
A/C works just great, handled Perth's recent heatwave with ease
Heater core in full working condition!
All power windows are in great working order too
    Headlining redone late last year
WA rego valid until Jan 2014

    Mods:
    KW V2 LE coilovers
    Dieselgeek short shifter
    Hella dual round headlights
BMC panel filter in stock airbox
    Remus 2.25" cat-back exhaust system
288mm front brake setup, brembo slotted rotors F&R, EBC green stuff pads
    Imitation kamei air intakes
    Genuine euro lip
    Nuespeed front strut tower
    Gruven crack pipe
    Gruven y-pipe
OZ Ultraleggera rims 16x6.5" w/ Kuhmo KU31 tires, approx 60% tread left
    Tinted windows
Clarion MP3 headunit, alpine type-x splits and alpine 75watt 2ch amp

Greeny has been a very reliable dub to drive over the years, and a pleasure to own. I'd rather not sell, but the extra cash will be immensely useful in Melbourne.

    PRICE: $6000?

Maybe some photos Matt? I know a few people would've seen it around the forum but just having them here would make it easier maybe?

Okay, found some semi-recent photos from the Araluen euro car show back in May. I'm horrifically busy with final preps to move east, but I will try to get some fresh shots over the weekend.

Nothing has really changed with the car since, except I now have upswept squareish exhausts instead of what is pictured.

Did this end up selling mate, or is it still sitting in Perth?

Ole Greeny still resides in sunny Perth. I'm still not keen to sell it but it is just sitting there these days. I'll be back in town in December and we'll see what happens then

                            ROAD TRIP!

(or you can be boring and put it on a truck )

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

With rough math I've figured it'd take $600 in fuel to make it from Perth to Melbourne. Was really keen on making the drive over here when I moved but alas it was not to be. Add another tank or two I guess and you'd get to Sydney.

Also it's worth noting that transport FROM Perth is usually much cheaper than TO Perth. Mostly because the trains/trucks are all pretty empty on their return legs, I guess.

Anyway, it's all hypothetical until I figure out what I'm doing with her at the end of the year.
