Dunno what I'm doing wrong here.

Think this link works this time...

The car is a hoot to drive. 7,500 rpm, 6 speed box - that's living.
It's still got (Japanese spec Bilstein) road suspension, so it rolls and moves around a lot more on the suspension that the GTI did. Also, it's only got S-spec tyres.
Still beat my best time in the GTI by over half a second...

I'll get something very similar to this car. Mine will have beefier brakes (6 pot) race suspension and R-spec tyres...

    Ian.

That would be right - I bought in 2006.

I though I'd better sell it while it was in good shape.
There was certainly scope for inadvertently re-arranging the panel work in some of the events we did - e.g. khanacross, where you're dodging trees

Yes I think the new owner is very happy.

      Ian.

I have been thinking of buying this with the risk of devoice if I bring another Mk1 home LOL ...
I saw this car on market 6 years ago when I wasn't so in love with VW, good to see it still in good shape.
The new and lucky owner should be very happy.

        Hi Arno,

1:11 at Wakefield Park is not hanging around - that's pretty quick. The serious ('charged) MX-5s are down in the 06's of course...
        That's commitment!

        The track wheels are 15 x 6.5.
Standard Golf (38mm) offset - perfect fit.
        They've got 195 50 series Dunlop R-specs on them..
(a bit tired, but they'd do another event or two)

I'll probably put them in the for sale section this weekend when I get around to it.

        PM me if you're interested...

        Ian.

Like RedMk2Gti, I had to take into account a possible divorce if I bought it I'm glad it is sold so I am no longer tempted. A friend of a friend has one of the turbo mx5's and I with a little work I think he is down to 1:11's at wakefield now. Are your track wheels 14" or 15"? All the best,

        Arno
