Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • SOLD 1996 Golf Mk3 VR6

SOLD! - Picked up and on it's way to it's new home tonight.

I have ordered a new vehicle so it looks like it might soon be...

    23 November 2011 update.

I now have a new vehicle, so it's time for the VR6 to move on to another home. It's going to be hard to say goodbye after the last few year (and dollars). I have replaced plenty of parts, in fact just about every part that breaks on a Mk3 has been replaced. 3 out of 4 window regs, heater core, AC compressor, coil pack, various temp sensors, water pumps, all the CV boots, engine mounts, suspension, suspension mounts, poly bushes, Fuel pump…. The oil and filters are also changed every six months.

So pretty much everything works like it should.

I also have a Bentley manual for the Mk3 and probably a box of various bits including a bunch of oil filters and washers if the price is right

I can be contacted through the forums or on Mobile 0413 003 998.

    The run down:
It's currently reading 148,xxxkm on the clock

I have gone one better, as originally promised I have updated the first threads with some interior picks I snapped this afternoon after work.

Nope, never had them, these are genuine 16" VW wheels though, just off a New Beetle.

Feel free to take your time, like I said in the OP (after the last edit) I'm in no rush to sell since the new car is a few months (at best) away, but will let her go if the right buyer comes along It's not going up on Carsales until I'm much closer to the deliver date so will only be on here for now

whats the service history like?? What petrol has it been running on?? And due to the fire extinguisher does that mean you have taken it on tracks??

Service history is unknown before I bought it, no log books or the like, however I have lots of receipts from all the bits and pieces I have done and bought.

For fuel, it's run on 98 since the day I bought it.

The fire extinguisher was put there because I think every car should have one, it was originally in the boot but had to be moved when the Fibreglass sub box when in. It has been on one track day at Wakefield in 2008, but I haven't had the chance again.

It's probably time to bump this thread since my new vehicle is almost here... Anyone in the market at the moment??

                          Hi Aaron
wish you well on the sale. The car looks very good and is well cared for, with a very realistic asking price.
I will pass the word around to friends who are in the market, wish I could but not due to cash/budget issues.
Out of curiosity, what lap time did it do at Wakefield?
                          Thanks, Fred

Thanks for the comments. As for Wakefield, no idea, was just a speed day without timing. Just lots of fun

The new vehicle is now here! So it's about to get all serious and listed on carsales and all that. If any VWW'ers are keen bail me up ASAP before it goes to the general public.
