  • VIC 88 Caddy

Well, I was down at Geelong for the ReVolks car show & cruise catching up with Tim (golfworx) & a bloke came up to him & offered him a chance to buy a caddy ute.

Tim being Tim said if he wants a ute, he'll get a real ute with the right amount of cyl.s., so he's passing on the chance to everyone on here.

So he went down the next day & took some pics of it anyway & sent them to me to post up for you all.

Its a 88 1.6L Diesel NA Caddy & from what he said, it has the ok to be registered.

Its more of a project than anything else but feel free to ring the guy about it.

His name is Ian 0425304675 at normal hours.

Looks good to me. I'd take a crack at it. Nothing too serious there.

              Cool project for someone!

That's because you don't know what you're looking at quite obviously.. And the main point is that these aren't exactly a dime a dozen.. Especially in Australia!

Its not REEEEALY all there man, the carpet and petrols cap/lid are missing along with the side strip just at a glance and who know how many other bits not in the pics. Some stuff might be a bit of a pain to get. Bumpers a buggered and who knows whats under that wood in the tray, rust all over da place blah blah blah....

It is all there but it would still be a prity decent project to get it looking good.

I'd love one but aint down for that much work.

as mentioned above my biggest concern would be whats underneath the wood.

Also concerned about whats under that wood TBH .... that said I could go for this .... I can get late 90s bits from South Africa on to it, including carpets etc to make it look awesome .... you can still buy new parts for it at VWSA's parts devision as well ..... the Caddy in this form was still in production until 2002.

Anybody know yet how much he was thinking of selling it for ?

EDIT .. note its been resprayed red from white .... so all kinds of nasties could possibly be found under that red coat ....

Speculation and rumour abound. Or you could ring the number and find out facts.

I just spoke to the owner, nice pommy bloke, he brought the car out here in his container a couple of months ago.

It has import papers and can be registered.

It has some rust in the tray, but none in the floors or cab.

He is looking for $4000 as is, which I reckon is pretty fair.
