Partner's 2005 Golf BLR is not cranking but when I jumper the solenoid S terminal to battery + the car cranks and starts. Put a multimeter on the solenoid trigger wire from the ignition switch and 0 volts when cranking, but 5 volts when not cranking. Weird.

Figure it could be a fault...

No problem at the moment, but seeing I just recently replaced the alternator on my 2009 Passat CC 2.0 TDI (CBBB engine), I'd assume the original starter motor might not have too long to go.

I've called a few transmission places and asked about having a solenoid replaced on my mechatronics and they all say its not possible and they whole unit needs to be replaced, yet there are parts available online and videos documenting the process online so I'm thinking they're all taking the easy route...

Hi everyone, so ive been trying to work out where ive gone wrong. i changed the clutch on my polo gti since it was toast and ive double checked the ground wires are attached to the starter motor. one to the solenoid and the other to the gearbox mounting bolt. double checked that i havent missed any...

bought the wrong solenoid so selling it now as i dont need it. Replacing my solenoid fixed my AC issues so deffs worth it trying to try fix it if you're having issues.

Lot cheaper than buying a whole compressor.
