My remote has finally bitten the dust. I found some instructions on relinking to to the remote module in the car but it won't reconnect. Would like to get a replacement fob. They appear to be Cobra 7777 remotes but finding replacements seems next to impossible. Anyone have any ideas?

My mid '99 Golf GTI came with a goofy looking Cobra 7777 keyless entry remote, exactly like this one:



I changed the battery, and now it doesn't work. Apparently I left the battery out for too long and the remote has un-programmed itself. The LED on the remote comes on...
