I'll agree with you 100% there, however as a first purchase a trip to their LHS is definitely a good move, as you'll be able to get good advice which a website can't provide.
agreed you cant beat the advice and the mandatory long yarn with the guys at your local hobby shop but ebay is still the bomb for all those misc parts and hop up options. my new alloy hubs, lightweight drive shaft and uni joints arrived in last week. im still waiting for my high speed metal geared servo though
