Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

It just says anything with a DQ200 so would apply across the range same as the mechatronic recall wouldn't it

The Tiguans were mentioned for a different fault

Yes all DQ200 cars. That is 7 speed dry clutch - the problem child. These are probably all on the mechatronics recall list also. Gotta suck going in twice.
From the article: In Australia, approximately 11,000 vehicles will require the oil in their transmissions to be changed.
            MK4 GTI - Sold
            MK5 Jetta Turbo - Sold
            MK5 Jetta 2.Slow - Until it dies.

Mine was done 3 weeks or so ago and apparently they put the changed oil in at that time so maybe you wont have to go back Ring and ask them

Yeah just the way I read it (& without thinking)

Good timing as Volkspower had suggested I visit them again between services to have the DSG oil changed at 66000 kms... and well... I haven't yet

When you read the recall notice it really is VG global damage control.
Usually synthetic transmission fluid is recommended for heavy duty applications in lube guides for other vehicles. The synthetic fluid used in DSG transmissions can sometimes cause a short circuit.
VG global need to improve the quality of the casings for the electronics I would suspect.

They already have haven't they as I seem to remember them recalling 28,000 to replace the mechatronics for that very reason.

The oil in the mechatronics is different to the transmission oil as I understand it The manual says if any oil is lost from the mechatronic unit it must be drained and refilled with the correct amount as the level cant be read.

                        From ERWIN Polo manual

The 7-speed dual clutch gearbox has two separate and different
oil systems. One for the gear oil part -arrow A- and one for the
hydraulic fluid part -arrow B-. (Mechatronic unit)

Why are they putting the recall out for 2013 model year vehicles. Seems to indicate otherwise does it not.

I have no idea apart from the fact that my invoice indicates the oil was changed when the mechatronics was done.

If you ever want to check what recalls are outstanding on your car use this VIN checker. I do it every 6 months, as the dealer only uses my email and phone number for sales purposes, not safety purposes.....
