    do you buy and why?

I coming from years of working (photog) in the motorcycle mag industry. Which car mags are the best read generally and any VW specific?

erm, with all the free stuff online I don't really bother with magazines at all these days. Find a website you like and then use an RSS reader (i.e. http://google.com/reader) to get all new articles delivered to you in a way similar to how you receive emails.

Australian VW magazines aren't much cop. I used to get European car and a couple of others electronically. Having been reading Performance VW and tons of other UK mags over the last 20 years, I haven't seen much new in the last few years.

Uk magazines VW specific: Performance VW, The Golf and Golf +. Agree with the comments from h100vw and Ryan.

Prefer getting a magazine rather than an e copy. Saw a magazine called VWT at the newsagents the other day, specifically for T4 and T5.
All the above are UK mags.
Dont even bother with Volkswagen Magazine Australia. Despite claiming to be both Air and Watercooled, the Magazine is heavily biased towards aircooled with the token Watercooled car each issue (unless you're into both air and watercooled). A recent example is the coverage of Shannons Auto Display show in Canberra, Despite the Watercooled cars outnumbering the Aircooled cars, there was absolutley no watercooled coverage at all.

Volkswagen Driver AutoMetrix Publications for the VW Watercooler in me - full of reviews and owner inputs etc
VW Camper & Bus for the early VW bus fan in me.
Ultra VW/Volksworld for the early VW fan in me.
VWMA buying since issue No.1 for the VW Australian community in me.
Wheels/Motor/Tarmac for the latest on the Australian car industry/racing etc.
Car - magazine the very best in automotive journalism (global)
Car & Driver for the latest reviews on VW in the USA.
Overlander / 4x4 Australia for VW 4x4 reviews
            Delivery for VW Commercial reviews.

            shall I go on........

Maybe thats because no one contributes about it, while the aircoolers actually get their act together and put an article together. I know Craig is heavily into all facets of the VW marque and would welcome any contributions by anyone H20 biased.
