Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Now if only VW Australia would get off their backsides and launch the Beetle here... very frustrating that the rest of the world is getting visual tweaks and special editions and over here they're still flogging the old models as if there wasn't even a new version.

Beetle has launched in North America and is available to order in some Euro countries.
Australia being a RHD country will get it by the end of the year providing demand does not out strip supply.

If you want one this year you should see your local dealer

Thanks for that info - unfortunately I have visited both local dealers here in the ACT and neither have any information about the local release timeframes, let alone models or pricing. One dealer gave me an October timeframe and the other thought there wouldn't be any Australian cars until 2013 but admitted he was just guessing as they'd heard nothing from VWA.

I will keep my ears out and report back if I get any updates from the dealerships.

I work at a dealer now and funnily enough this question arose and the saleman stated 3rd quarter for Beetle launch.

So I bet between 3rd quarter and early 2013 (depending on international demand.)
