GTI-650 Study (W12 Golf, 3.7 sec to 100km/h) ::1st Drive Vid Pg 9::
the only issue i can see with this car is: people drive gti's because they are a value for money fast car..... i think this might be out of the price range of most gti drivers
also, i can see that JC (topgear) will have a problem with it - with all those cylinders in the back, how can he fit his chest of drawers in the boot?
and another thing - i love in the official press release, the part about the dashboard switches where they note important functions like "turning off the ESP"
love it!

Who said they were making it? This wont get made, let alone reach Australia. It's a car for VW R&D to test ideas.
Yeh it won't. Think of what VW are capable of producing, they could easily make cars to match m3's, they could of made the original w12 concept etc. etc. But i imagine they still have some of the original ideas which the company was foundered under, that being a peoples car. VW have always seemed kind of modest to me, they COULD make some insane motorcars but why bother when not everyone can have one.
76 MkI 3 door - daily drive/project - 1.8 5speed
76 MkI 3 door swallowtail - 16v track car
76 MkI 3 door "long term" project
It's got as much power as the Lamborghini Murcilago (which VW own), in a car that would be equivilent to the Renault Clio Cup car with it's modest 3.0 V6 midmounted like this is, it'd be awesome if they built it with the W12, but it they did it, it would more likely to have a more common motor, like the V8 out of the Audi S4
I remember reading that the W12 motor is not that good for high power as they come in N/A form, but since then they have come out with a turbo version for the Bentley haven't they?
This car is going into the "when I'm stupidly rich" list, because that's how much it would cost.
