Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VW Service- on A Current Affair-

    Hello All:

Did any member see the tv article re Camperbell VW in Victoria concerning a lady who owned a Golf. Apparently she had many problems with it and she called the car 'crap'. It was in for service and a mechanic named 'elvis' took it for a 'test drive' after hours and smashed it.

During her ownership she had complaints with the dealer, VW Aust, and even went to VW Germany!

This story is indeed sad to say the least. Has any other member had bad experiences with dealers that we should know about.?

There is a www site called productreview.com.au, where car owners report on problems etc. McCarrolls VW at Hornsby NSW came in for mention from an owner of a golf re air con problems and service.

It would be good to know where we should get our VW's serviced in each state.

    Regards,

    VW50

I happen to know him too.

The media is a joke - hence why I come here seeking peoples personal experiences.

I'd like to see the media do a report on how the media has had an influence on peoples lives for the worst by filling them with fear from mis-representation of the facts to make a story sell.

        Now that would be interesting.

Elvis drove it home and it was involved in an accident correct? The argument was that he was merely making sure the fault didn't come back I thought

all those shows, ACA TT etc are full of crap. I watched something today about how there a big sercret supermarkets have been keeping from everyone, and it turned out to be a policy we openly share and abide by. the story was a complete waste, just goes to show how they can fill up a half hour with as much crap as possible.

I like it when the chasers rip into these guys, shows up the crap for well the crap that it is.

I would like to meet elviz. that would be cool. (elvis presely that is...)

He was told to take it home along the freeway to test for wind noise at freeway speeds. Had the go ahead from the Service manager AND the lady consented to it by signing the repair order when the car was booked in.

                      vw service

I know from inside info that apart from the woes that this customer may have experienced she only persisted with her complaints with her eye on "compensation $" As far as i know there aren't any vw dealers in Melb willing to service her car.

There is always one rotten banana in a bunch.Yes ACA TT, and in general all commercil so called 'current affairs' TV shows are sensationalist, always going for the lowest common denominator, or the bogan/redneck view. Look at the magazines like new Idea etc, how can they get away with what they say about people? Sorry if I sound boorish or a bit of a smart arse, but I can't stand sensationalist journalist crap!

Fifteen years ago when I was a newbie dental student, there was the usual crapola about how bad amalgam fillings were for people - ACA again - and they wheeled out this Collins St dentist (Melb) who spouted off about how toxic they were and had all his patients remove all their amalgams, etc.
Funny how now they don't pursue this guy - he left the profession in disgrace after promoting the benefits of ozone therapy for pain relief - administered rectally or even vaginally. He tried to even spruik this as a cure for cancer. Some loophole in the system means that the authorities can't prosecute this guy, even though his treatments are fraudulent.
