  • The New Generation Jetta Is Nearly Here

The new Jetta is an entirely new vehicle. The appearance of its fully galvanised body shows this most emphatically. The new Jetta impresses as an independent vehicle and makes great strides forward in both concept and styling. The new model is 4.74 metres long, 1.47 metres tall and 1.78 metres wide. This makes the Volkswagen [...]

Puts the Camry to shame as a sleep inducing device IMHO. I'm really worried about where VW's design is heading to...

Well... have a look at what the highest selling cars are... Toyotas. Highest selling colours aren't even colours... white, silver, etc.
So, if you want to sell more cars than anyone else, what do you have to do...

You have to do what Hyundai does: make good looking cars and sell them cheaper than VW and Toyota

Wait a minute, are you suggestig that there are so many Golfs on our roads because... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

No, I'm saying you can only get so far by being good. There are not enough Golfs on our road cause they're too interesting. Just like the Jetta. They need to make them more boring to sell more!

Saw the new Jetta at the Autostadt in Germany recently. Looks better in the flesh than in photos. Clean and modern lines.

I wonder what the Jetta pricing will be like.

Will it be a competitor again for Honda Accord Euro/Mazda 6,etc...or will it fight with Honda Civic,Mazda 3,etc ???

I hope it looks better than the new Passat.
Seems to be some similarities between the two.

Ok my opinions (current Jetta owner).

Positives - Design & Overall Package - Dash is nice and soft

Negatives - This is where VW loses as it cut costs for America which carried over some negatives into the Euro version: no centre sliding cover for the drinks, centre console armrest does not ratchet anymore, boot not lined, bonnet does not have gas struts and no storage underdash by the light console (which I use all the time).

Its hitting the markets this September !!!

ps when are they going to update the 147TSI to 155TSI ????

Funny Ben,I also noticed the absence of the storage space below the lights switch,as I used to also use that the whole time in my Jetta, and I use it in the Euro daily.
I think not having a cover over the centre console cheapens the look of the interior,as there are 2 round drink spaces.

Did not notice the lack of carpeted boot, and engine was not opened.

There were quite a lot of people looking at it,and a rep from VW at it the whole time, but not very helpful,as she did not know prices, models, etc.

                          Good size,nice looking,nice very ROomy interior,smaller boot.

Not sure if I prefer it to the MK5 Jetta though, when that came out,I instantly fell in love with it.

I think this one, like all the newer VWs is blander, and will take time to warm to.

This is selling like hot cakes overseas, wonder if it will sell well here as well...
