  • Car Advice tests the Polo TDI & GTI

It’s a nice sunny Melbourne day and I roll into the petrol station in a small, red…Diesel. The gentleman next to me in his V8 SS Commodore has a quick chuckle when he hears the truck like idle of the Polo, quietly wishing his car wasn’t purchased to compensate for something else...

Don’t be fooled by the rather placid looks. When compared to the Polo TDI there is very little difference. It all comes into its own when you turn the key, grab the gear and stab the throttle. Some of the words I used when that turbo spooled weren’t exactly G-rated; in fact they were far from it.

Nice found mate. One thing that caught my eyes.

After about five runs from naught to one hundred kays, the best time I managed was around 7.5 seconds.
That's a pretty quick figure for the polo

Leather seats are available as an option for $2,490, which in my opinion is too much to ask for enough leather to cover two small front seats and a rear seat bench.
What a w@nker, know where in the entire review does he mention that included in the $2,490 is two heated seats with individual control. Would go some way to explaining to the reader why it costs so much Some motoring journo's really don't deserve having such a awesome job.

IMO, it's a superficial review of the GTI, there's better and more detailed reviews out there.

Yup agreed, sounds lil like a paid review.

Perhaps, but let's face it, a circa $2500 option on a circa $27,000 car is a lot of the folding stuff. You may love your leather seats - and I respect that - but the option is over 9% of the value of the car. No matter which way you spin it, it's an awfully expensive option.

The BMW options list may be notorious, but you can get optional full electric seats including memory ($1750) and seat heating ($800) on a 320i Executive for $60 more - I think the author raises a valid point.

Well my car drive away was $32,000, I hate it when car costs are quoted and not on-roads.
