just sold the pug gti my03 138 before for delivery of new tdi sportline.
Car had done 180000 kms, residual was $9900, sold for $8000 but I was ahead $3000 in lease costs, so its break even time.
New lease is for 4 years also, residual approx $12500 and car will have similar ks.
In 4 years time will I get the residual or should i consider a shorter lease period.
the 45000+ kms per year wont go away and i usually save on costs by economic driving and only doing long trips. any comments welcome

you really have to crunch the numbers, as there are many different variables at play. I find a 3 year lease is the way to go, the resale and balloon payment (mostly) match up pretty close and the 3 yo car is generally more attractive to potential buyers.
In your case the high Kms would be the issue pushing up your lease costs.. it may be worth looking at turning over the car at 60k...just throwing that out there.

Leaseplan used to have a great online calculator ... seems you have to have a customer number now
