With the soon to be launched Golf 77TSI VW are targeting the mass market appeal. Expect more versions of the current range including more base engines - for example Jetta 77TSI may not be unbelievable come launch next year and much more.

It would not suprise me,as VW is becoming bigger and bigger every day,in most parts of the world.
Baseline Golfs and Jettas will make VW far more main stream- locally too.
