Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I think that its going to be the 3.6 from the passat. They have already made the RGTI which was the 350 BHP GTI running a massive turbo with carbon fibre everywhere.

The info I've read is from owners who have ordered the car here http://www.tyresmoke.net/ubbthreads/...0/fpart/3/vc/1

280hp is possible remember Audi sell the S3 with 265hp

Well if 2.0T produces same power as 3.6 V6 and weighs less, then why not
Also on VWvortex a poster posted that the 3.6 V6 does not meet Euro crash regulations in MkV body

Whats the difference between the 3.2 and the 3.6 that would make a difference in a crash test?

My guess: engine block weight and/or block size not leaving enough crumple zone room.

It's only bigger on the inside.

                          From TyreSmoke.net
Just received a phone call from a VW Sales Manager I currently have my name down with for this RSI/R36.

He stated that in the last 2 weeks Volkswagen Marketing in Wolfsburg (one of his guys has just returned from Wolfsburg and heard it from the horses mouth) have now decided not to go ahead with the RSI/R36 (due to underlying cost reasons). The Sales Manager is a true petrol head/enthusiast and I kind of believe him
Make of it what you want but he stated that he is calling around the other people on this list to deliver the bad news

This thread on tyresmoke.net was the original source of most of the info. It's a long one...
Hopefully the above news is just to throw media off

VW really needs to do this. 206kw in a hatch is some serious headkicking power and would start giving the speedy jap stuff a real scare!
