  • A conversion to die for I reckon!!!!!!!!!!

This would have to be one of the best conversion's/transformation's of any car I've seen/read about in a very long time!

Would hate to see the bill but then, I wouldn't mind seeing what this kind of workmanship would cost either

    Take one of these

    Add one of these!

& turn it all into this!!!!!!!! E30 5.0L V10 out of the BMW E60 M5

That build epic! There are a few V12 TT in e30 about aswell, its bloody crazy stuff. Just trying to fit it in NA would have been an effort and somehow they squeeze in 2 turbos.

I knew a 17yr old who was doing a V8 m5 engine in his e30, lucky bastard has sponsors and a full workshop!

Ah as amazingly awesome as it is, it would be a huge lead tipped arrow.

My E30 weighs 900kgs engine included, a big v10 up front like that would absolutely ruin it's weight distribution

looks to be an alloy block so i guess weight wont be as much of an issue like some conversions

Alloy block and they don't even have steel bores. Electrosealed Aluminium bores. They are actually a fairly light engine for their capacity.

Even though it is all alloy (well the majority is), the complete engine weighs in at 240kg's.

I don't know what the weight of the old cast iron blocked/alloy headed 2.5L I6 is, but I don't think it would be that much lighter than this. I can remember that moving these old iron engines around & they aren't light!

For interest sake, the V10 block is split up into two pieces. The block & the bedplate as they call it. Where the main caps are cast into the lower part of the block. Alot of manufacturers have been doing this for some time incl. vw!

The block is alloy & the bores are machined using the alusil process.

The bedplate is cast alloy, but they cast in "cast iron" for the bearing bridges. They also stress relief anneal it for 8 hours & quench it & its aged for 5 hours in heat.

Useless info maybe to some, but still cool stuff I reckon
