  • Power windows dangerous?

Interesting. Do VW power windows stop and go back down if obstructed?

    I think so.
I'll give it a go soon.

They sure do but need a bit of pressure to activate the sensor like a tight squeeze on the arm (don't try it with your neck!)

Yep! But as Paul OH said, it needs quite a bit of pressure to activate the rollback. Simply weighing the window down won't stop it, it needs to feel the resistance of your arm against say the window frame for it to stop.

The sunroof has a safety too, it is very sensitive and rolls back just with the pressure of your hand, the window needs a lot more force.

10million yanks hurt - geez there are some really daft people over there. It wont be long until Australians become just a stupid.

I love the comment on that page..
'You are joking yeah? What happened to parents have responsibility for their kids? Why does EVERYTHING have to be regulated? If the kid gets their hand/finger/arm jammed in a power window, they're not likely to put their hand/finger/arm there again.'

And if my kids hung off the window like in that pic; they'd get a tanned ass real fast.

Yep they go back down. If you have the clips on your window regs replaced and the window doesnt go back into position 100%, when you wind the window up, it gets to the top, then comes back down half way, which you can then wind up from memory... Thats in my MK4 anyways. So involves resetting the window as per manual
