I read this yesterday and forgot to post it up.

I'd still take the (what I think is) superior Golf over the Mazda3 any day - 7-speed DSG, better fuel economy, lighter and more torque. Not to mention a much more refined look and state of the art engine which I'm sure could benefit from a chip.

Great article, always good to read a 1/2 decent comparison, the 3 is a very promising car but just doesn't deliver on the looks department for me.

Reading between the lines, VW Australia's decision to dumb down the base model with steel wheels, etc, has cost it the gong.

Go up in the model range takes the price to $33,000 but you get all the fruit.
