If it's AWD it'll be great...

Pah rims are easy fixed... The only bummer is there won't be a lot of tunability in it if it's already 200+kw from the factory. Better off leaving it stock, unless you want to go into Stage III territory...

if its related to the s3 power plant expect an extra 39kw for chipping alone.(the s3 can be chipped to 239kw).

It loooks like just another golf. It doesnt stand out the way MK4 R32 does from the rest of MK4s. I'd rather get the S3

Yeah those photos have been posted around the place before. I don't think that bodykit will be on the final product. More of a development mule trying to throw people off. Don't think the TDI badge will make it either.
            Cheers,

I agree, Drive must have purchased this story from another news agency, as I saw saw these pics over a month ago, as Trent said, this is purely a test mule for the new R20 platform.

That can not be the R20 kit.. As said above it's so blah. And the wheels... They look like the standard Jetta wheels, just bigger.

Nothing like the Mk4 & 5.. They were phat.

Apart from the different rear bar with the twin exhausts, they've got no concrete proof that it's the R20. To me it just looks like a 2.0TDI.

I really hope this doesn't mark the end of v6's in golfs... this would make me very sad

Likewise, but I think VAG is aiming for smaller, more fuel efficient engines but that pump out higher performance... And if it goes faster than a V6, with better economy... I'm in!

theyve said this is the case numerous times that the v6 is gone due to emission regulations.

Not just regulations - simple economy. They can get more power out of a forced induction 4-cylinder for a given amount of fuel than they can out of a larger V6. The 15º V6 is being dropped as upgrading it to direct injection is too difficult - the V6 in the Passat has DI, but I believe it's also a 60º V6, and thus won't fit under the bonnet of the smaller Golf.
