Does anyone know if it is based on the old platform or the new one (as on the Skoda Fabia) ?

Yep, it's based on the A05 or PQ25 platform.
SEAT Ibiza, Skoda Fabia, VW Polo and the Audi S1 all use this platform.

it seems to lack rubbers on the doors and in the bumpers that prevent scratching. The previous model seemed to be the last VW that had those! Shame!
