Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Interesting the Yanks buy 6 times as many VW cars as we do but the mix is dramatically different, the Jetta makes 50% of their sales and the Golf 50 of Aus sales.

This almost highlights how far behind the Yanks are with car culture, in Aus it's taken us a while to embrace the hatch, but seems they haven't reached that point yet.

Americans HATE hatchbacks, they look down on them as being a utility kind of cheap run about, whereas a sedan is more elegant looking, but the boot also provides protection in a rear accident.
Since the A1 platform, the Jetta has been the top selling European nameplate in North America, being the US,Canada, and Mexico.
