Email Notifications Failing (mostly Telstra)

Hello everyone. Seems there is an issue with Telstra (possible others) blocking email from our server. If you are trying to sign up I would suggest a different email if possible. If you're trying to reset your password and it fails please use the Contact Us page:

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Limit to 4 images

I tried to post a 4Sales threads but got the following messages :-

"You have included 8 images in your message. You are limited to using 4 images so please go back and correct the problem and then continue again.

Images include use of smilies, the vB code [img] tag and HTML <img> tags. The use of these is all subject to them being enabled by the administrator."

I suppose the [img]...[/img] only link to the images in other server, it won't use spaces in our server, why is there such a limit ?

The main reason that there is such a limit is to prevent jamming of connections for people that do not have a fast connection. The forum displays images sequentially and by post, so if you have 4 images in 1 post then you end up getting those 4 loaded before the next 4, in theory this is.

You also then get a certain number of posts before a new page is created.

Yes the forum admin control this, personally I think that 4 images per post is fine. If you need to display more images, off site links would be the best suggestion.

Just to reinforce what Mick has said (thanks mate). The idea is to save server space and to speed up page loading for poor unfortunates like me who only have dialup (in my case 21bps if I'm lucky).
As Mick says, it's best to get yourself some free server space such as at picsplace etc and then the sky's the limit.
